Spring visits go after carpenter ants working out of damp landscape timbers and dead limbs, and we look hard at grade level for termite mud tubes on block walls. Early summer shifts to yellowjackets building under deck stairs and behind fascia, spiders on porch ceilings, and tick and mosquito pressure pushing in from the tree line — a real issue on lots backing to Little Gunpowder Falls, the Winters Run corridor and the wooded edges around Carrs Mill and Upper Crossroads. Fall is the important one: October is when mice start testing the sill plate and stink bugs stack up on the sunny south and west walls.
